Young detectives use CSI techniques to close case in Maywood

Two men from Explore Science Inc. led junior detectives in a crime scene investigation at the Maywood Public Library on Dec. 6. The program was open to residents in grades three through eight.
Craig Villanova II and Steven Jedrzejczak prefaced their activity with the children by telling them the crime story and giving names and descriptions for five suspects.
"The body was found in the bedroom at 10 a.m. the next morning. The victim was dressed in a rayon bathrobe, later found to have been given to her by her mother the day before as a going away present. A .22 caliber Colt revolver was found in the victim's left hand. Fibers, other than rayon, were found on the body and her hand. Two bullets had been fired from the gun. A single bullet was recovered from the skull of the victim. Powder remains were found on the left hand of the victim. The bullet entered through the right temple and exited the left occipital lobe of the brain case. The other bullet was never found..."
