Deputies testify in Edenville drowning trial
18.05.12
Todd Flood, an attorney for Dana Gibbs, and Paul Bernier, an
attorney for Clayton Gibbs, pressed deputies Myron Greene and
Michael Sutherlund on Friday about their qualifications and
abilities to investigate scenes and collect evidence.
Greene said he arrived at the Gibbses’ property at Water and
Curtis roads at 5:14 a.m. June 5, 2009, and saw Dana Gibbs along
with her son and four other teenagers. He did not see Clayton
Gibbs.
He said the only evidence of a party at the scene by the water
was multiple cars parked on the property. He said he saw no
obstructions for emergency responders to get to the vehicle in the
water. He said he took photographs of the car’s interior and
exterior, along with the scene.
Greene said he later collected a keg of beer from the property
across the street after viewing it from Curtis Road. Greene brought
the keg into the courtroom Friday.
During cross examination, Greene said he is not sure if he has
taken specific training courses on crime scene investigation and
that he has not taken a class specifically on collection of
evidence, though both were part of his general training.
