head teacher remains suspended while SATS probe continues

AN investigation into how a York primary school conducted its pupil tests has left pupils without any maths SATS results.
Last week The Press reported City of York Council had confirmed pupils from Haxby
Road Primary School had finally received their English SATs results, but not their maths.
Now the investigating authority, the Qualification Curriculum Development Agency (QDCA), has said the maths results are null and void.
The finding comes after the QDCA was looking into an allegation of “maladministration” of the tests that took place at the school in May.
A spokesman for the Department of Education, on behalf of the QDCA, said: “Following an investigation into Haxby Road Primary School, it was considered that
there was sufficient doubt over the validity of the maths results at Key Stage 2 to recommend that they be annulled.”
A spokeswoman for City of York Council said the pupils’ teacher assessments in maths had all been passed on to their secondary schools and many secondary schools carried out their own testing to
gauge ability.
